Jerry SMITH

SMITH, Jerry - Deep belly laugher, afikoman hider, wearer of silly hats, lover of Hallmark movies and Korean dramas, avid sports fan, hard working provider for his family, beloved of Adrianne, daddy to five and zadie to nine - passed peacefully from this earth on July 26, 2026. Jerry spent his life in Toronto, growing up in Kensington with his lifelong best friend Harvey Kasman, then making his way to addresses up and down Bathurst street. He loved to learn, studying political science at the University of Toronto while working full time with kids at home, attending evening classes to learn Spanish, and archeology seminars throughout his seventies. He was loving and kind and very very silly; when he caught the giggles no one was safe. Jerry was incredibly proud of his family, singing their praises to everyone who would listen, from neighbours to the telemarketers who called the house. We will miss his crooked smile (the result of a childhood rooster attack!), his reminders to take off the parking brake, and his warm gentle presence. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Adrianne, his children: Deborah, Louise, Simon, Jonathan and Leora, his children-in-law: Danny, Anna, Jen and David, and his grandkids: Lauren, Kaileigh, Amelia, Matthew, Jaime, Isaak, Penelope, Ruby and Wesley.
