Life & Legacy

Paul Roth, aged 83, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. Born in Brooklyn to Celia and Sol, Paul lived a full and meaningful life, guided above all by an enduring love for his family. After earning his degree in electrical engineering from MIT, he served in the United States Navy before going on to complete his law degree at Georgetown University. It was on a blind date in Boston that he met the love of his life, Sherryn. He soon moved to Canada to be with her - though he remained, proudly and unapologetically, a lifelong American patriot. Together, they traveled the world, creating cherished memories, while always happiest returning to the comforts of home. Above all, Paul was a devoted family man. He is lovingly remembered by his children and their partners: Ben and Wendy, Richard and Jane, Lee and Maya, and Andrew and Frances. He was a proud and deeply cherished grandfather to Warren, Hailey, Zachary, Hannah, Kayla, Nathan, Aviva, and Sophia, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He will also be sadly missed by his in-laws Anne and Hugh Kestenbaum and Howard Levinoff, as well as his extended family and many dear friends. Paul took great pleasure in life's simple (and not so simple) joys. A voracious reader, he instilled a lifelong love of books in his children and grandchildren. A constant - if occasionally reluctant - sailor, he was happiest with a moderate breeze and a steady course. Taking up skiing in his 40s, he approached the slopes with determination, good sense, and perhaps somewhat excessive caution so as to make it down in one piece. And he was always ready to enjoy a good drink - never to excess, but always in appreciation of good company and a moment well spent. He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humour, his collection of unforgettable (and sometimes outrageous) stories, and his honesty, generosity, and wisdom. True to form, he asked for little, gave much, and left things better than he found them. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
