Andrew Meles

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Meles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 79. Born on August 15, 1946, in Újpest, Hungary, Andrew’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a passion for teaching, and an enduring love for his roots. Andrew’s early years in Hungary were shaped by the rich cultural heritage of his homeland. He often reminisced about the vibrant streets of Újpest, where he developed a love for learning and a curiosity about the world around him. His family instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of education—principles that would guide him throughout his life. Andrew’s love for teaching was matched only by his devotion to his family. He married the love of his life, Luiza, and together they built a warm and loving home filled with laughter, support, and shared dreams. Andrew was a proud father to three sons: Joshua (Orit), Anthony (Cathy), and Jordan (Taryn). As a grandfather, Andrew’s heart swelled with joy at the sight of his seven grandchildren: Jessica, Carly, Alexa, Haley, Remy, Cody, and Shai. He took great delight in their accomplishments, big and small, and was always eager to share stories from his own childhood, weaving lessons of resilience and perseverance into their lives. Andrew Meles leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
