Life & Legacy

Elaine Grace Petroff March 9, 1937 - April 4, 2026 It is with profound sadness that the family of Elaine Grace Petroff announces her passing. Born on March 9, 1937, Elaine lived a life defined by love, warmth, and an unwavering devotion to the people around her. Elaine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dora Senelnick. Elaine is survived by Irving, her beloved husband of nearly 70 years. Their enduring partnership was a testament to a love that only deepened with time. She is also lovingly survived by her four sons, Jay, Howard (Andrea), Steven (Sara), and Ari (Kelly) and her cherished grandchildren Matthew (Justine), Jeffrey (Emily), Gillian (Alex), Jacob (Aria), Avi (Matan), Izzy, and Max; and her two precious great-grandchildren, Freya and Coby. Elaine was, above all else, a devoted and loving mother. Her intelligence was matched only by her kindness - she possessed a rare and beautiful gift for seeing the very best in every person she met and finding the bright side in even the most difficult of circumstances. She moved through the world with grace and optimism, and those who were fortunate enough to know her were made better for it. A true friend to everyone, Elaine had a way of making each person feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for. Her absence will leave an immeasurable void in the lives of her family and the countless friends she gathered throughout her remarkable life. Though she will be deeply and forever missed, the light she brought into this world lives on in every life she touched. May her memory be a blessing. Memorial donations in Elaine's Honour may be made to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, 416-480-4483, https://donate.sunnybrook.ca or the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital, 416-586-8203, www.tlcpc.org or to a charity of your choice.
