Stephen Levitan

Stephen Lawrence Levitan passed away from heart failure in the Coronary ICU at Toronto General Hospital on April 1st, 2026 at the age of 74. He was surrounded by family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha; his son, Mark (Justine); his daughter, Julia (Brett); his grandson, Freddie; and his siblings, Brian and Leslee. Stephen was born in Ottawa on July 9th, 1951 to Elliott and Celia Levitan. He spent most of his adult life in Toronto, where he built a career that he loved as an industrial designer. He exemplified warmth and kindness, with a remarkable ability to make others feel safe and welcome. He loved fiercely and taught those around him to do the same. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and friend. His passions included art, music, traveling, playing pool, reading, eating, and making people laugh. Through both his relationships and creative pursuits, Stephen made the world a far more beautiful place. He faced significant health challenges throughout adulthood with strength and determination until the very end. Stephen lived a full, beautiful, and selfless life. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
