Joel Weiss

WEISS, Joel - On Sunday, March 15, 2026, Joel Weiss passed peacefully at Michael Garron Hospital. Loving husband to Debrah for 63 years. Beloved father and father-in-law of Samantha Weiss and Alan Teich, and Lindsay and Hali Weiss. Devoted Grandpa of Jordan and Jenna. Predeceased by his brother, Paul, and his sister, Barbara. A lifelong dog lover, Joel cherished Sami, Sarah, and Montana, as well as his numerous grand-dogs. Joel bravely overcame stage 4 pancreatic cancer through innovative surgery nine years ago in New York City and continued to be a fighter over the years that followed. During this time, he helped many other pancreatic cancer patients and was a shining example of how to continue living a meaningful life after such a difficult diagnosis. Joel was deeply loved by his entire family, including his numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States, as well as by his graduate students at OISE, who were a highlight of his career.
